In a nutshell...Osoyoos comes from the Native American name "Soo-yoos" - a narrow point where two lakes come together. Osoyoos is a picturesque small town situated in the desert wine country of the Okanagan Valley on BC's southern border. Hot and dry in the summer with sage brush, tumbleweeds and sandy hills, Osoyoos calls itself the only arid desert in Canada. In summertime, the Okanagan Valley is one of the the hottest places in Canada (it has the warmest fresh water lake in Canada) and the winters are mild. The name Osoyoos means "narrowing of the waters" in the local First Nations language.
